Bertolotti's Facts
Bertolotti's syndrome is the association of back pain in people who have a lumbosacral transitional vertebrae. Lumbosacral transitional vertebraes are congenital spinal anomalies defined as either sacralization of the lowest lumbar segment or lumbarization of the most superior sacral segment of the spine. This is relatively common in the general population with an estimated 4-30% of people have it.
